Files are read from disk by the page and processed by your own CPU using WebAssembly and WebCodecs. A 2 GB video costs zero bandwidth.

The free tools have no account layer, so there is no quota to attach to one. Your machine is the limit, not a billing tier.

Ads pay for it
Reserved ad space around the tool keeps every tool free. The tool itself is never interrupted by one.
Browser processing is not a privacy slogan here, it is the reason the limits can be absent. A server-side converter pays for every megabyte it receives, so it rations free use - three files, then a wait or a card. When the work happens on your machine, the marginal cost of your fourth file is nothing, which is why there is no wall to hit.
The trade-off is honest: very large jobs are bound by your own memory and CPU, and a handful of exotic codecs are not available in the browser. Where a tool cannot do something locally, it says so instead of quietly uploading.
Frequently asked questions
Is zerouploads really free?
Every tool listed as free is free, and free means finished: no watermark, no export cap, no feature held back for later. Ads around the tools pay for them. We plan to add a few paid tools for work a browser cannot do alone, but they will be new tools, clearly marked. Nothing free becomes paid.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no registration, email confirmation or account layer between you and a tool.
Are there daily limits?
No. Work runs on your device, so there is no server quota or daily counter.
Do my files get uploaded?
No. File tools read and process files locally in the browser whenever the required browser APIs are available.
Does it work offline?
Cached tools keep working without a connection because their calculations and file processing run locally.
Can I suggest a tool?
Yes. Use Suggest a Tool in the footer and describe the job you want the browser to handle.
